
Program - Social and Behavioural Sciences
The Social and Behavioural Sciences (SBS) PhD program provides core education for addressing social and behavioural issues. PhD students will develop expertise in:
- Analysis of major social factors affecting population well-being (e.g., systemic determinants of inequality)
- Application of systems theory for social change
- Design of intervention programs
- Research methodology and impact evaluation
The program trains researchers to:
- Understand factors underlying social issues
- Design and implement theory-based interventions
- Evaluate intervention and policy effectiveness
Ph.D. fellows will work in teams with expert researchers on projects promoting women’s empowerment and rural development through social solutions, such as life skills courses and vocational training for personal growth and healthy community development.

Admission Procedure
ELIGIBILITY
FULL TIME PHD
B. Tech / M. Tech in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Automobile, Civil, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Equivalent Degrees.
applicants are expected to have strong academic records.
PART TIME PHD
Applicants who have a full-time appointment at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or at another academic/ R&D organization are eligible to apply for part-time admission. Other eligibility requirements of such applicants are same as full time applicants. Part Time students are permitted to proceed at a slower pace in completing their doctoral requirements.
INTEGRATED PHD
Exceptional students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at Amrita will be allowed to apply for the Integrated Ph.D. program subject to the requirement that he or she completes all the requirements of the Bachelor's or Master's degree prior to 'advancement to candidacy'
DUAL DEGREE PHD
Exceptional students who satisfy the eligibility requirements of Amrita and that of Amrita's International Partner University (IPU), as stated in the Dual PhD. MoU signed between Amrita and the IPU, are eligible for admission to the Dual PhD program.
