Program - Interdisciplinary Studies
Associated with the faculty of Engineering, Amrita Mind Brain Center offer a Neural Engineering Ph.D degree is a one-of-its-kind program that typically integrates neuroscience, engineering, neurology, medicine and computational sciences to explore and develop novel methods and technologies for tackling brain disorders and to develop new advancements in technologies for health. This interdisciplinary field aims to decode the complexities of the brain and nervous system, leading to advancements in areas such as brain-computer interfaces, neural prosthetics, neuroimaging techniques, and computational neuroscience. Students in a Neural Engineering PhD program engage in a combination of coursework, laboratory research, and collaborative projects. Topics like neural signal processing, neural network dynamics, neural modelling, and neurotechnology development are some of the key focuses. Additionally, an interdisciplinary approach, collaborating with experts from fields such as electronics engineering, computer science, biology, and medicine. Graduates of Neural Engineering PhD programs are equipped with a diverse skill set, allowing them to pursue careers in academia, industry, or government research institutions. They play pivotal roles in advancing our understanding of neurodegenerative disorders and developing innovative technologies including Neuro-inspired artificial intelligence to address brain related functions, develop tools for rehabilitation and push the boundaries of human-computer interfaces. At the Amrita Mind Brain Center, we explore the brain and mind organization and function using experimental methods, computational neuroscience, and cognitive modelling from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Admission Procedure
ELIGIBILITY
FULL TIME PHD
B. Tech / M. Tech in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Automobile, Civil, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Equivalent Degrees.
applicants are expected to have strong academic records.
PART TIME PHD
Applicants who have a full-time appointment at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or at another academic/ R&D organization are eligible to apply for part-time admission. Other eligibility requirements of such applicants are same as full time applicants. Part Time students are permitted to proceed at a slower pace in completing their doctoral requirements.
INTEGRATED PHD
Exceptional students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at Amrita will be allowed to apply for the Integrated Ph.D. program subject to the requirement that he or she completes all the requirements of the Bachelor's or Master's degree prior to 'advancement to candidacy'
DUAL DEGREE PHD
Exceptional students who satisfy the eligibility requirements of Amrita and that of Amrita's International Partner University (IPU), as stated in the Dual PhD. MoU signed between Amrita and the IPU, are eligible for admission to the Dual PhD program.
